Among the SoCal cities listed by Money as “Best Places to Live in the U.S.” is San Diego

It can be challenging to find the ideal home that fulfills all of your needs while looking to settle down. A community with the ideal mix of low crime rates, top-notch education systems, a strong local economy, easy access to high-quality healthcare, and other amenities is what most homeowners and renters desire.

Two communities in Southern California, Irvine (ranked #13) and San Diego (ranked #22), made the list of the 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2023, according to a recent Money report.

Numerous factors were taken into account by the researchers, such as the quantity of employment prospects, general diversity, quality of life, and the city’s projected growth.

Irvine, California

Tucked away in the center of Orange County, Irvine is a thriving neighborhood with a wealth of educational, recreational, and employment options. World-class dining and shopping are easily accessible to locals at neighboring malls like Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza, and Irvine Spectrum.

For almost two decades, Irvine has had the lowest rate of violent crime per capita for its size, according to city officials. Locals can easily spend their free time in Big Bear, a mountain resort, or in the adjacent city of Los Angeles.

With over 19,000 firms residing in Irvine, the city offers a plethora of business and economic prospects. According to Money, a few of the biggest employers are Edwards LifeSciences LLC, Blizzard Entertainment, and the University of California.

San Diego, California

San Diego, sometimes referred to as “America’s Finest City,” is home to world-class beaches, a bustling downtown, mild year-round weather, and a laid-back way of life.

Balboa Park is a 1,000-acre park that is home to the Old Globe Theater, 15 museums, a horticultural center, and the San Diego Zoo, among other attractions for its residents.

The city has 40,000 acres of open space and 340 parks for outdoor enthusiasts. Every day, locals can enjoy top-notch whale watching, surfing, fishing, kayaking, and other activities.

The University of California, San Diego, which was ranked seventh on Money’s list of the 10 Best Colleges in California and twelveth on the list of the 25 Best Colleges in America, is located in the city and has an exceptional educational system.

Home prices in San Diego are more reasonable than in other major cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles, even if the property market in California is often more expensive than in other parts of the nation, according to Money.
