Affordable apartments now open near Grantville transit

The ShoreLINE, a new affordable housing development, recently opened in San Diego’s Grantville area near the trolley station. Developed by Affirmed Housing Group and the San Diego Housing Commission, the building offers 124 units across five stories with both underground and above-ground parking.

Designed for families earning 30% to 60% of the area’s median income ($45,000 to $90,000 for a family of four), the project offers a mix of studio to three-bedroom apartments. These units are guaranteed to stay affordable for 55 years.

The building, located on Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) property, features secure, 24/7 access and encourages the use of public transit, walking, and biking. Residents have access to amenities like bike storage, play areas, and a community barbecue space.

To support affordability, 25 federal rental vouchers have been issued and funding was secured through $31.4 million in tax-exempt and $24.5 million in taxable bonds. MTS plans to develop more properties near other trolley stations in the future.
