Construction has started on Union Tower, a new affordable housing complex in National City located at 2312 F Avenue, between I-5 and I-805. The development will offer 94 units, including 45 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom, and 24 three-bedroom apartments, plus a manager’s unit. The County of San Diego, which shared the news, has been heavily investing in affordable housing since 2017.
Twenty-four of the units at Union Tower will be prioritized for veterans, providing them with not only housing but also access to case management, physical and mental health care, and service coordination. The County’s $3.5 million contribution through the Innovative Housing Trust Fund and the allocation of 24 housing vouchers will ensure long-term affordability.
The development will be conveniently located near public transit, shopping centers, and other community resources. The tenant interest list for Union Tower is set to open next summer, with the project expected to be completed by spring 2027.
