The County of San Diego has announced $11.5 million in funding to support affordable housing initiatives for low-income individuals and veterans facing homelessness. This funding opportunity, announced through a new Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), invites developers to propose projects that create, rehabilitate, or acquire affordable housing to address the county’s housing needs.
The funding includes contributions from several sources: $6.5 million from the federal HOME Investment Partnerships program, $3.5 million from California’s Permanent Local Housing Allocation, and $1.5 million from the county’s Innovative Housing Trust Fund. Additionally, developers can apply for Project-Based Vouchers from the Housing Choice Voucher and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing programs to provide further assistance.
The county’s focus is on creating permanent supportive housing to benefit low-income residents and veterans. Proposals are due by Dec. 20, 2024, and developers can find further information on the Housing and Community Development Services website. This initiative is part of the county’s commitment to addressing the affordable housing shortage and supporting vulnerable community members.
